Counselling

What is it and is it suitable for me?
Psychotherapy, Counselling and Life Coaching all use a collaborative treatment approach based on the relationship between client and therapist which aims to improve the client’s well-being and mental health. Improvement is achieved via the mitigation of problematic behaviours, beliefs, thoughts and/or emotions. Ultimately, combined with an increase in personal well-being there should be improvement in relationships, an increase in social skills and personality growth.

Counselling is best suited to assisting clients with specific problems or life events. Counselling is used for acute or episodic trauma such as bereavement or relationship breakdown. Counselling may also be used to alter problematic or unwanted behaviours.
